چکیده
Abstract A straight elastic fibre is usually perceived as a one-dimensional structural component, and its similarity with cylindrical rod makes concept analogous, if not equivalent the of an spring. This analogy enables this communication to match response relevant viscoelastic that spring and, hence, describe behaviour in light new, generalised model. The model shares simultaneously properties inelastic damper (dashpot) interested on applicability at small strain only. However, form constitutive equation, which based combined action internal energy function viscous flow potential, non-linear well differential also, implicit stress. posteriori determination (i) manner parts are assembled observed total deformation, (ii) part stress creates recoverable work wasted dissipation, (iii) amount stored material dissipation during deformation. detailed analysis presented for case small-strain, steady deformation takes place spatially homogeneous manner. includes complete solution problem interest accompanied by adequate set corresponding qualitative numerical results.

Fibre Optic Strain Sensors
Although the optical sensing technology has been available for a number of years the recent rapid adoption is due to a breakthrough in the way that optical fibre sensors are deployed. Optical fibres are now being embedded within a glass fibre/epoxy composite carrier to form a robust component suitable for handling offshore. The carrier provides resistance to damage during deployment and from ex...
متن کاملStiffness at small strain: research and practice
This paper provides the background to the 50th Rankine Lecture. It considers the growth in emphasis of the prediction of ground displacements during design in the past two decades of the 20th century, as a result of the lessons learnt from field observations. The historical development of the theory of elasticity is then described, as are the constitutive frameworks within which it has been pro...
متن کاملAn anisotropic viscoelastic fibre-matrix model at finite strains: Continuum formulation and computational aspects
This paper presents a fully three-dimensional constitutive model for anisotropic viscoelasticity suitable for the macroscopic description of fibre reinforced composites that experience finite strains. An essential feature of the model is that the matrix and the fibres are treated separately allowing then as many bundles of fibres as desired. Moreover, the relaxation and/or creep response is bas...
متن کاملLarge Strain Viscoelastic Model for Balloon Film
This paper presents a constitutive model capable of predicting the anisotropic viscoelastic behavior of balloon film subject to large strains and cyclic loading. The model is based on the free volume theory of nonlinear viscoelasticity enhanced with a switching rule for treating loading and unloading differently. The model has been implemented in the finite element analysis program Abaqus/Stand...
متن کاملSmall fibre neuropathy in sarcoidosis.
Some patients with sarcoidosis have unexplained pain and dysaesthesia. We did quantitative sensory testing in 31 sarcoidosis patients with pain or autonomic dysfunction. 25 patients had reduced warmth sensitivity, cold sensitivity, or both. Intraepidermal nerve fibre density (IENFD) was measured in punch biopsy skin samples in seven consecutive patients. All seven patients had reduced IENFD com...
